Project Description

One of EnergyLink Services’ (ELS) first clients, the relationship between Sims and EnergyLink Services has grown over the years into a well-trusted working stakeholder relationship.

Operating 38 facilities across Australia, Sims meets the mandatory energy and greenhouse gas reporting corporate group threshold as defined under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007 (NGER Act). For the past 3 reporting cycles under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) Scheme, EnergyLink Services has been the trusted energy and carbon advisor assisting Sims Metal Management with their reporting compliance and presenting Sims’ section 19 NGER report before Sims’ executives.

In addition to NGER, ELS has also completed an energy assessment (in accordance with AS3598.2 for energy auditing) of Sims’ facilities, including scope 3 analysis and level 2 energy audits. These reports detailed sustainability and energy efficiency opportunities by analysing the energy consumption to improve their energy efficiency, manage energy costs, improve energy reliability, support own-generation capacity, and provide business cases of energy-saving opportunities identified. Other engagements include the design and implementation of the energy management and carbon reporting tool (energy management tool procurement assistance), and sustainability executive management briefing & workshop.

EnergyLink Services also has ongoing energy and carbon advisory engagement with Sims involving ad hoc management and technical services consulting in areas including energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainability, reporting, biofuels, and carbon/energy/renewable legislations.
