Project Description
Southern Cross University (SCU) was awarded a $100,000 NSW Government Grant for the implementation of an electrical metering system at their Lismore Campus.
EnergyLink Services was pivotal in the success of obtaining this grant by completing a NSW Government funded Metering & Monitoring Plan (MMP) to support SCU in managing energy consumption. Having an approved MMP was a mandatory criterion to obtain the implementation grant, and EnergyLink Services worked closely with SCU staff to compile all relevant aspects of the MMP.
The complexities came with the Campus having more than 30 buildings, no up to date electrical drawings, an annual electricity spend of over $1.5M, numerous electricity supplies, limited existing sub-metering, tenants and multiple existing and planned solar systems. Due to these complexities, University staff were finding it increasingly challenging to manage electricity usage effectively. EnergyLink Services worked with the site staff and BMS contractors to develop a BMS integrated metering solution that would allow access to accurate energy data quickly and efficiently to support SCU in achieving its environmental goals.
Key Results
Obtained a grant to deliver the Metering & Monitoring Plan (MMP)
Worked with site staff and contractors to address electrical metering challenges and deliver a MMP that not only met all NSW Government requirements, but provided valuable insights into requirements for the new BMS design, and how the data could be used most effectively
Provided an approved MMP that supported SCU to successfully be awarded the $100k grant
