Project Description
EnergyLink Services partnered with Porta Products in delivering ASRS S2 outcomes as supported by the NSW Government under it Net Zero Plan grant program. EnergyLink Services assisted Porta Product to unlock the funding to develop a Scope 3 inventory reporting tool.
The emission reporting project involved mapping Porta Products’ value chain in accordance with the GHG Protocol, covering all 15 upstream and downstream Scope 3 emissions categories. This was achieved through stakeholder engagement, mapping scope 3 categories to general ledger accounts, and identification of material emissions sources. The process enabled the establishment of a defined Scope 3 boundary based on relevance and materiality.
EnergyLink developed detailed data frameworks to support future emissions calculations, including identifying required activity data, assessing availability of primary and secondary data sources, and establishing processes for ongoing data collection and inventory improvements.Supplier mapping was also undertaken to identify key suppliers and evaluate opportunities to obtain more accurate, supplier-specific emissions data over time.
The project highlighted several challenges, including the complexity of Porta Products’ diverse product range and supply chain, as well as limitations in existing data for certain emissions categories, particularly Categories 10 (processing of sold products) and 12 (end-of-life treatment). To address this, EnergyLink provided guidance on appropriate calculation methodologies and recommended a staged approach to improving data quality and completeness.
In parallel, the work strengthened internal capability by engaging stakeholders and building awareness of emissions data requirements across the business. The outputs provide a strong foundation for Porta Products to calculate its Scope 3 inventory, improve reporting accuracy, and identify emissions reduction opportunities.
